The brief
The new RRC began development in Summer 2017 and once complete in 2020 will convert all of Somerset’s non-recyclable rubbish into energy using sustainable and environmentally friendly methods.
The energy produced by the centre is predicted to supply 44,000 West Country homes with power through the National Grid and will prevent thousands of tons of waste being dumped in landfill. You can find out more about the new Viridor Resource Recovery Centre development here.
Supplying the concrete
The LGW Group were excited to be a part of the construction of this new facility, which will have a hugely positive impact on the local area and environment. All 600m3 of concrete was produced by Wright Readymix’s new Avonmouth plant and delivered to the site using Bristol & Bath concrete mixers.
It was an early start for the LGW Group, with work beginning in the early hours of the morning on February 21st 2019. Concrete pumps supplied by Wright Readymix were on the scene to efficiently deliver the concrete.
The result
This project marks one of the first large-scale collaborative concreting projects undertaken by The LGW Group. Working as a collective unit, our excellent time-keeping and communication meant that our part of the project was completed efficiently, on time and on budget.
